Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuits | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

El Nino hit the Bay Area with a vengeance over the weekend.  The storms are predicted to continue off and on through the end of the week.  I heard on the news that we had over 4 to 5 inches over the entire weekend.  Sure hope this puts a big dent in our drought.  Despite having big storms and spring is around the corner, I am sure we are in store for more. Bring it on!

Classic French Onion Soup | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

This week the days have been a bit warmer in the Bay Area, yet the evenings are crisp.  I crave a brilliant bowl of piping hot soup when there is a chill in the air and the sky is dark.  It brings a sense of comfort and warmth.  Our fireplace has gone non-stop this winter and it brings us much joy.

White Bean Chili | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

Happy New Year!  I can’t seem to say it enough.  I am looking forward to a great year ahead.  A lot of folks vow to eat healthier and exercise more.  That is a motto I always like to follow even if it is a not new year.  Do I always practice?  I wish the answer was yes, but I do pretty well, not perfect.

Almond Shortbread Cookies (Mantecaditos) | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

Tis the season to celebrate!  We wait all year long for this time of year and then it is over in a blink of the eye.  I try to relish every moment and not rush any day.  When I think of the holidays many things come to mind – sparkling lights, holiday decorations, parties, festive cocktails, spending time with family and friends and cookies.  Yes, the last one I mentioned is cookies.

Cast Iron Apple Pie | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

Fall is in the air. One day it was almost 80 degrees and then practically overnight, the weather turned to be very chilly for San Francisco Bay Area standards.  The evening temps were in the low 30’s.  Along with the chill, we have been getting rain over the last couple weeks on a Sunday and Monday.  The weather man predicts it will be that way for this coming Sunday.  With a four year drought, this is a welcome site.  I am actually pretty excited to have a real winter.

Pumpkin Palmiers | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

The autumn season has arrived on the calendar.  In the Bay Area, we don’t have any indication that it is really here from a weather standpoint.  We are experiencing a warm October although the weather folks keep telling us that El Nino is around the corner and to brace for a very stormy season.  With our unprecedented four year drought here in California we are welcoming the deluge of water.  We keep praying it will arrive soon.

Pumpkin Molasses Tea Bread | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

The San Francisco Bay Area is made up of micro climates.  You could drive one hour in any direction from San Francisco and experience on average a 25+ degree difference.  According to the weather authorities here, we are in for a very warm week ahead and averaging in the low to mid 90’s.  Living in the Bay Area, we are known for our Indian Summers where despite the calendar stating it is fall; we have summer like weather through the end of October many years.

Mango Jicama Salsa | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

Summer is simply flying by.  Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have had a relatively mild summer.  The weather report is predicting a rather toasty weekend ahead – around a 100 degrees where I live. It is time to plan for preparing foods that are easy and that don’t require a lot of oven time to heat up the house.

Speaking of foods that “beat the heat” that is our theme for this months Blogger C.L.U.E. Society.  This secret society of sorts is a group of really wonderful food bloggers who are assigned a fellow member and need to seek out a recipe on their blog that matches the monthly theme.  Kind of like playing the clue game that we all grew up with and/or still play today.

Crinkle Sugar Cookies | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

Summer is in full force!  Tis the season for grilling, BBQ’s, vacations, flip flops, longer days and warm summer evenings. I love this time of year with all of the fresh fruits and vegetables that are full of flavor, especially the corn, tomatoes and stone fruits are among my favorites.  It is hard to believe that we over halfway done with 2015 and before you know it, the holiday season will be around the corner.

Before we start celebrating the holiday season, I want to fully embrace the summer season and all that it has to offer.  My grill has been busy with chicken and vegetables lately along with fresh salads.  Speaking of grilling, it is time for Blogger C.L.U.E. Society and our theme this month was “Summer Barbecue/Grilling – grilled vegetables or meats, main courses or side dishes or desserts or drinks that would be great at a barbecue”.  What a fun theme and the possibilities were endless.

Olive Sables | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

I am thrilled to put my super sleuthing hat on again for this month’s edition of Blogger C.L.U.E. Society.  We are a group of enthusiastic food bloggers who belong to this secret society of sorts where we are assigned another blog in the group and must hunt for a wonderful recipe of our choice that fits the theme for the month.  It is a fun journey that we get to experience each month.

Raspberry Oat Bars | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

I am excited about three things at this exact moment.  First that it time again for Blogger C.L.U.E. Society.  Second is that the theme for May is berries. Third but the most exciting is that I was paired with Kim from Liv Life.  I belong to this secret society of sorts where each month we are paired with another food blogger, given a theme and set off to explore our assigned bloggers blog and hunt down a recipe that matches the theme and we are excited about making.

Peppercress and Basil Pesto | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

We had some great rain showers yesterday and today in the Bay Area.  Oh how we need the rain here in California – it was such a welcome event.  We just need about 10 to 15 more Spring Showers here to make a dent in this 4 year drought. Speaking of spring, this month’s Blogger C.L.U.E. Society theme is Spring Vegetables.  I have to declare that the spring time vegetable season is simply stunning.  From asparagus to fava beans, the assortment is spectacular.

Chocolate, Coconut, Butterscotch and Oatmeal Cake Cookies | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

Are you still sleepy from turning the clocks forward an hour?  Flipping the time forward is a love/hate thing for me.  I love that it stays lighter in the evenings but hate that it is dark in the morning – so much harder to giddy up in the AM.  After a few days, I am completely use to the change and when summer approaches, I absolutely love staying outside sipping wine with my husband in the warm evenings with the sounds of the fountain running in the background.

Bacon & Cheddar Savory Bread Pudding Bites | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

It is time again for the Blogger C.L.U.E. Society.  We are a group of like minded food bloggers who get assigned once a month to another blogger who is a member of this secret society of sorts.  We go on a secret mission to discover and make a recipe from our assigned blog with the theme of the month.  For February, our theme was red.  That could mean make something that is red or venture down the virtual red carpet.  I chose to dance down the red carpet and choose an appetizer that could be enjoyed while hosting an Oscar Party at home.

Sparkly Shortbread Cookies | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

Hubby and I took down the last vestige of holiday decorations on Sunday.  Not sure about you, but I get to a point where I have enjoyed the holidays so much that when the New Year rolls around, it is time to pack these treasures away in anticipation of the day after Thanksgiving when the whole decorating process begins again.  The house looks sparse but that is how it is actually year round, just seems that way – a bit of holiday deception I guess.

Ginger Snap Cookies | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

Happy Holidays everyone!  Can you even believe that the holidays are actually here?  I am still in a bit of shock that time just zips by so quickly.  Hubby and I love this time of year.  Our house is all decorated and we simply enjoy sitting by the tree with a glass of wine.  One thing about us is that I like the white lights and hubby enjoys the colored lights.  If you have the same situation in your house, I have the perfect solution for you.  We have a tree that has dual colored lights – at the simple click of a switch can be white lights and then touch it again and we have colored lights.

Onion Biscuits | Blogger C.L.U.E. Society

I believe Colonel Mustard did it in the dining room with a candle stick. Do you love the game CLUE?  I grew up playing this imaginative board game that produced many outcomes based on the roll of the dice and the order of pulling cards.  Much like this classic game, the food blogging world is taking a spin on the concept for a brand new online cooking club called – Blogger C.L.U.E. Society.
